Andile Khumalo is an innovative entrepreneur making moves on our tv screens, radio airwaves and communities. His passion for business has seen him propel himself from humble beginnings to positions of empowering others. The quintessential interest in his creative drive is enlightening the African narrative by strengthening networks among peers and breaking new ground through more initiatives. Waptrendz was fortunate to catch up with the dynamic youth for further insight surrounding the vision behind his communications passion.

1. Tell us who you are and what your craft and passion is all about?

I am Andile ‘Andy Tosh’ Khumalo, an entrepreneur, coach and speaker. I am a resident judge on an entrepreneurial Television Game Show, Game Plan on SABC 2 and a regular feature on SABC Radio Station, SA FM and various media platforms.

I started my business with only R5 airtime, I had no funding but passion, goals and a dream. All I knew was that I wanted to succeed, be the best I can be and help my family. I had to use the available resources even though they were not enough, but I knew it was the first step towards greatness and achieving my goals and dreams and being able to empower the next person.

My craft evolves around entrepreneurship as I’m the founder of Andy Tosh, a Public Relations, Media and Marketing Company and also a co-founder and MD of Black Diamonds World, a platform where black entrepreneurs can share, build and grow in their respective ways while changing the African economic narrative.

I am the Editor in Chief of Destination Gauteng, the ultimate business and leisure gloss magazine guide for local and international business executives on doing business in Gauteng.

I am passionate about youth development, empowerment and entrepreneurship. I am a firm believer that in order to empower the next person you should first empower yourself and entrepreneurship have proven to be that vehicle for empowerment.

2. What are some of the challenges you have faced in your journey so far and what practical lessons have you drawn on your way to where you are right now?

The journey gets to be very dreadful, long and lonely at times. It is during those times I go back to my fundamental principles and remind myself of why I decided to embark on this journey in order to renew my strength.

In most businesses, cash flow tends to be the most challenging aspect for most entrepreneurs but the ability to come up with innovative ways is what sets us apart and allow us to thrive, that’s how we are able to overcome challenges we face, by not being rigid to change.

The best attributes to have in your character as an entrepreneur is, to be honest, and truthful to self. Be able to ask yourself the most hardest questions and sincerely answer yourself. This will help you to overcome challenges in your business and be able to come up with solutions that best suite your organization.

Through this exercise, you are able to get to the root of the problem and have the technical know-how on overcoming that particular challenge. This is how I practically solve challenges I come across in my business and personal life
